R.O.G.U.E is not just about fishing. The name says outdoor adventures so we are adding some links to help you find your next adventure no matter what, where or how adventurous you want to get. We are going to help you get there and find the R.O.G.U.E. in you.
Now this is something everyone will want to be involved in. Starting in August there will be several events leading up to the main weekend in November at the Kemah Boardwalk to show appreciation for our service people who make sacrifices for us on A DAILY BASIS. As with any event there is cost involved and they need help. Aside from the sponsorship packages being offered any charitable donations, no matter the amount, will be a tremendous help. Charitable donations can be made to VFW Post 8566 (memo weekend for warriors) and are completely tax deductable. If you happen to be in the Kemah area donations can also be dropped off at the Kemah visitors center. (Domino Taylor 281-334 3181). Plans are underway to honor our soldiers and thank our veterans in a very special and unique way. With the help of Houston’s Bay Area communities and our patriotic and generous donors, the Veteran’s Appreciation Celebration will bring some of our heroes and their families to Kemah, Texas on November 11-14. These four days promise to be filled with an array of military and land activities. Static displays, Fishing tournament, sailing trips, Appreciation Ceremony, BBQ feasts and live music are some of the highlights of the fun and exciting patriotic weekend.
The Wounded Warrior Kemah Project is a family oriented event not just for Kemah and the Bay Area, but for the whole state of Texas designed to help our soldiers and their families participate in activities that take their minds off their grueling rehabilitations and the struggles of their daily lives. For our wounded soldiers, a relaxing and fun weekend of ‘R & R’ away from the hospital is needed and a chance for all to say thanks and show our appreciation to those who volunteer to protect our country.
Sponsors are needed now for this November event and sponsors are needed for the pre-event fundraisers. Come aboard and join the group. Steering the committee are members from the 82nd, 101st & 173rd Airborne, Kemah Elks Lodge and the VFW Post 8566, along with Kemah merchants, community leaders, and the City of Kemah. More sponsors to be announced.
The next WW Kemah Project fundraiser scheduled is the October 11, 2010 Golf Tournament at the South Shore Country Club. Sponsorships and golf teams are still needed.
By donating to this cause, you help provide an event the service men and women look forward to all year long. With your help, we can touch the lives of those who have given so much to us and our country. We want to make it a weekend they will never forget.
